Smores Couture in Atlanta News

Really? Is there anyone who doesn’t love s’mores?

Smores from Smores Couture

Rayanna Perry says she has been hand making custom candies and desserts for many years. But it was her elegant smores (no, she doesn’t spell it with an apostrophe) that launched her business, fittingly named Smores Couture. Don’t be thinking these are your old-school graham crackers topped with marshmallow and a little chocolate. These are elegant chocolate-covered bonbons filled creamy cookie filling (that tastes just like graham crackers) topping a fluffy marshmallow. These candies take the concept of s’mores to a whole new level. Perry and her team hand make each smore in their Decatur kitchen. You could feed these to the kids, but that would be such a waste. Save them for your more discerning guests who will appreciate a grown-up version of this classic flavor combination.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rayanna Perry.

Rayanna, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I worked most of my career at one of the largest beverage companies in the world. On the weekends, I’ve always enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen and cooking special treats for my friends and family. From the first day, I made these delicious s’mores flavored bonbons, they’ve been an instant hit with everyone who tries them. I always figured that if I were to make a dramatic shift in my career it would be towards the arts, but I’ve always had a love for candy, and I knew these s’mores chocolates would be the perfect way to share my passions with the world. From there, opening my own business to sell them only added to the dream I’m now seeing realized. In fact, when I told people closest to me, they all said it’s about time!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting your own business is never a smooth road. That hardest challenge for me has been simply getting people to try my product. They are a completely new concept; a bonbon that tastes like a s’more. Because they are new, people are hesitant, but once people try them they always want more.

Please tell us about Smores Couture.
At Smores Couture, we make s’more flavored bonbons. But they are not your typical campfire treats. The cookie is creamy, which makes them super-rich. The marshmallow is light and fluffy. We hand dip each one in a special blend of chocolate that balances out the decadence of the candy. It truly is a one-of-a-kind delicacy. I absolutely love watching people try it for the first time; their first reaction says it all!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
As a child, my family would gather for Thanksgiving at the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach. Among the many wonderful desserts, I was always the most excited for their chocolate sculptures. They were large works sculpted out of chocolate, two of my favorite things art and candy. Little did I know then, that this would indicate so much of what I’m thrilled to be doing today.
